I’m delighted to welcome you to another exciting season of the Aurora Symphony Orchestra! For almost 40 years we have been your local, all-volunteer, community-based orchestra. We encourage you cordially to join us for this year's concerts that promise to be filled with memorable musical experiences.

In this 2016-2017 season we will celebrate the magic of music combined with the spectacle of other performing arts: opera and ballet. We will open with the famous and always funny operetta Die Fledermaus (The Bat) by the Waltz King Johann Strauss, Jr. in collaboration with our friends of Opera on Tap Colorado and we will will join forces this holiday season with the Aurora Dance Arts to present the timeless beloved ballet on a Christmas tale, The Nutcracker, with music by Tchaikovsky. For our family and children's concert we invite you to join the orchestra in an exotic journey as we explore the wonders of the animal kingdom with beautiful musical stories and delightful representations of numerous creatures of all sorts. Next, we travel to mystical lands, featuring Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, an exquisite musical collection based on the legendary tales of the One Thousand and One Nights. Last, we will be presenting again new rising stars as we feature the winners of the ASO's Young Artist Concerto Competition at our Arts for a Better Tomorrow Concert.

I invite you to be a part of this musical wealth that is sure to invigorate your soul. If you’re a returning friend, I thank you for your continuing support and if you’re a newcomer, I invite you to be a part in one of the most exciting and engaging cultural experiences in the area. Don’t miss this wonderful celebration of musical treasures!
