The Aurora Symphony is a volunteer community orchestra

AUDITIONS ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

The Aurora Symphony currently has open positions for:
  • All Strings
  • 3rd Oboe/English horn
  • 1st & 2nd Horn
  • 3rd ​Trumpet
  • Subs on all instruments

Auditions will take place on Wednesday, August 2nd from 6 to 8:30 pm and Saturday, August 5 from noon to 3 pm at the Aurora Central Library, located at
14949 E Alameda Pkwy, Aurora, CO 80012Additional auditions may be scheduled during rehearsal breaks on Wednesday evenings. Please contact Sarah McGregor at asopersonnel@gmail.com to schedule.

REASONS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER JOINING THE ASO:
  • You are an accomplished amateur.
  • You are a professional looking to build your repertoire.
  • You are a music educator who misses the orchestra environment.
  • You are an advanced student looking for additional experience.
  • You are a retired professional who just can’t quit.
  • You want to make music in an environment which is challenging, yet positive and with friendly colleagues.

FOR AUDITIONS, PLEASE PREPARE:
  • 2 contrasting selections: a lyrical piece that demonstrates good musical style and a piece that showcases your technical ability
  • You will also be asked to sightread a piece of orchestral literature.
  • If applicable, please be prepared to play a selection for any auxiliary instrument that you can play.
  • Percussionists should prepare a 5-minute excerpt for snare drum and and a 5-minute excerpt for mallets. 
  • Auditions last between 7 and 10 minutes. Each of the two selections should be at least five minutes long and they should be a complete movement of a concerto, sonata or etude from which the audition proctors may choose a selection.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Rehearsals are held in the Community Room of the Aurora Central Library, located at 
14949 E Alameda Pkwy in Aurora, unless otherwise noted. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings, from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. Dress rehearsals are the Friday before each concert, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Most performances are on Sundays at 3:00 pm.
